Buddahead

Crossing The Invisible Line

Fantastic album from start to finish!

Well produced, a great feel good album! A fine example of what pop-rock should sound like!

From the opening single "When I Fall" you will be trapted. Raman Kai combines a melodic sound with incredible heart felt lyrics to create an album that you can't stop listening to.

Throw it in a the player and give it a listen.

Join The Dots

the Cure

Join The Dots

This will be a must have for Cure fans. I would not call myself a hard core Cure fan. I only have the CD from 1983 an up and I do not have any of the best of cd or all of the videos they have put out.

Still I know enough to comment on it. I really enjoined this box set. The first cd is ok. The be-sides were ok back in those days with most bands. The Exploding Boy is a great track.

The second cd is great. I loved all the b-sides that were made from the Kiss cd. Breath is an all time great one. Hey you was a Cure song I heard on the radio, but could never find till this box set came out. That will be a plus for cure fans.

The Disintegration b-side are great, To late being a notable one. The cd ends with the b-sides of Mixed Up. This cd also has the covers of Hallo, I love you, all three visions. The third is my opinion the best one of the four. I remember spending a good amount of money for the b-side Twilight garden.

Plastic Passion I think is one of the best songs that the cure has ever made. Sacred as you is an emotional one that Robert Smiths admits to crying while recording it. This cd also has many of the movie sound tracks they have made like Burning.

The fourth cd is great. This cd close up the Wild Mood Swings cd. I know that many cure fans do not like the wild mood swings cd or tracks, but to be honest they are pretty good, so have an open mind. One of the best tracks is the Depeche Mode cover of World in my eyes. When growing up Cure Fans and Depeche Mode fans would always get into yelling matches over which band is better. I will admit to being in the Depeche Mode side of the matches. I am sure that many cure fans and Depeche Mode fan were not to happy about this cover, but I think it is a great cover of the song. The cure made it there own.

The other thing that cure and dm fans need to know is that the two bands like each others music. The Forest remix will not upset cure fans. The other plus is the booklet that comes with the CDs. The cure is one of the greatest acts of all times. Even if you are a passive cure fan you may want to take the time and money to get this cd. If you are a cure fan then you do not need to read this review and should be out getting your copy if you have not already. I give this cd rating a 9 out of 10.

Pop Art

Pet Shop Boys

Pop Art

This best of will be a must for any Pet shop boys fan. Still being a Pet Shop Boys fan I was not totally happy with this cd. There are four songs missing that should have been on the cd.

The first one is "How can you expect to be taken seriously". It was to be part of a double a-side. Yes, "Where the streets have no name" got more of the radio play, but it is still a classic PSB song, it should have been in the cd. The next one is "Was it worth it".

I know that this is the only PSB song to never get past the top 20, but it is in my opinion a great song and shows the PSB playing with music which we later saw on Very. The next is "Absolutely fabulous". I believe that this song is not on the cd because of some problems with the makers of the show. That is only a guess so do not take my word on it.

Still if there were some problems they should have over come them for the fans. This is one of the best song PSB did. Then the last one is "London", which was only released as a single in Germany, but a great track from the Release cd. The positive is that the sound on the cd is great and the song are in a great line up starting with "Go West".

The other plus is two new songs, "Miracles" and "Flamboyant". "Miracles" comes across like a up beat vision of "Home and Dry". It is a lovely song to listen to when you miss some one. "Flamboyant" is a great track. It does not remind me of another PSB song, but deals with the same subject matter as "Shameless". Over all it is a ok Best of. I give it a 7 rating out of 10.

Zig Zag

Earl Slick

Zig Zag

A Great session guitarist who has performed with such greats as David Bowie, John Lennon, the Cure, and many others.
Zig Zag is a great album, performing with Slick are Bowie, Robert Smith (from the Cure), Martha Davis (from the Motels).
This is Slick's first solo album in a number of years.
If you are looking for some great guitar work along with some top notch performers check out Zig Zag, I dare you to be disappointed.

Reflections

Paul Van Dyk

Reflections

A great progressive house, trance album, Van Dyk takes a break from the regular high energy beats and brings it down introducing melodic vocals and exquisite textures. A great break away album, trying something new is sometimes a risk, but Van Dyk succeeds in making a great album.

Mando Diao

Mando Diao

Bring 'Em In

Mando Diao "Bring 'em in" -Incredible Album!

Great rock and roll band from Sweden, definite influences of the Beatles, and 60’s rock and roll. They have created an album that could easily have come out of the 60’s era. From start to finish the band never let’s go of the energy, and atmosphere they create in “Bring ‘em in”.

Stand out songs in the album “Sheepdog, Mr. Moon, and Motown Blood.

Check it out you won’t be disappointed!

Great Psychedelic Rock album! SOOL is a band that doesn't get much air play, for the simple reason they are fantastic musicians keeping their music pure and unfettered the Swedish band continues to amaze.

Echoboy (aka Richard Warren), a one man rock N' Roll band has released his third album Giraffe, I was surprised at first with the title, I was expecting this to be called Volume 3! His last two albums were Volume 1 and Volume 2. after all.

\par

Giraffe has 10 tracks of pulsating, climatic bass lines that completely draws you into the music. That is evident on such song as Don't Destroy Me and Good On T.V.

\par

Automatic Eyes, the first single on Giraffe starts out with a more modern bass line blended with an older rock beat, it seems to flow well, in fact I actually enjoyed this song quite well.

\par

Richard really has taken a different angle on this album, I think it could be the doing of Flood who also is the producer for such bands as U2 and Depeche Mode, or maybe not.

\par \par

Either way this album was created and mixed well.

\par

This album is highly recommended.

\par

Well this is a bunch of interesting people, at first I wanted to hear the Ruiners mainly because they were from the same city as I am originaly from DETROIT!

\par

The Ruiners lineup are as follows: Rick Ruiner, Renee Ruiner, Sinnamon Ruiner, Scott Ruiner, Gary Ruiner, and Eric "Sasquatch" Ruiner. As far as I know they are not from the same family, but it does sound like something the Ramones did with everyone that joined their band.

\par \par

The ruiners sound like a cross between rockabilly and punk. Detroit Surfer Boy (track 2) has a strong likeness to X, also Vampire Dating really sounds like something from the Cramps. This song has a great sound though it has proven to be one of my favorite songs on the album so far.

\par

Bill Did A Graveyard Lawn Job (track 13) wins the award for the most original song title, my hell this song seriously rocks, I started jumping around and almost tore the shit out of my office while listening to this song. You can feel the raw energy that has been put into this.

\par

The Ruiners really know how to put out great music, I could only imagine how they would sound live!
