This band's self-titled debut record on MCA left much to be desired
after the first listening. So I said, "O.K. Jeff, give it another
try." And now, with that second listen well under my belt, I can
firmly say that if you get this album you will most likely hear
nothing new and generally be disappointed. The press for the CD
says that "Bechy Sharp... is... like Buffalo Tom disguised as a
Southern gentleman." But I would rephrase that to read, "like
watered-down Buffalo Tom disguised as Better Than Ezra." This CD
falls into that category of non-alternative music. The music is
clearly influenced by bands worth listening to, but in and of
itself, Becky Sharp adds nothing new, alternative, or really worth
my time.
